The House of Light School (HOLS) is the first project of Horizon International Trust located in Pind Begwal. It is an underprivileged rural area of Islamabad Capital Territory with a population of about 30,000, lacking in basic facilities such as health, education and sanitation. The House of Light School was founded in January 2006 as a pre-primary/primary school, however, on the insistence of its students and parents it has been upgraded. It is now a registered secondary school supporting 196 children with class 8 being its highest class and is providing FREE QUALITY EDUCATION to the underprivileged children of this area.
Every year the school admits 25 new children to the school. The selection of these children is done by a selection committee on the basis of the income of the families. No child can be taken from a family with an income above Rs 12,000. Over last 8 years, HOLS was located in a rented building. In 2012, Raja Qaiser Ghaffar, President of HIT donated 9000 sq. yds. of family land for the construction of HOLS. This land is located in a sub village of Pind Begwal called Bain Nala. In 2014, the Japanese Embassy, through its GGP program, donated funds for the construction of Phase I of the school building, which includes 10 class rooms, 8 toilets and admin block. Other donors also contributed towards this effort. Phase I has been completed in March 2015 and the school has shifted into the new campus. Funding for Phases II of the building are now needed to complete the school building, which will include science laboratory, computer room, library, auditorium, canteen and play grounds.
